Water tank waterproofing handover: questions before returning it to service

Document the scope, materials and return-to-service requirements. Completing the application does not by itself establish that the water is suitable for use.

Tank waterproofing handover involves more than looking at a new layer's colour. Owners need to know what was completed, what remains and when return-to-service procedures can proceed under the selected system. Include this information in the agreement; written details are clearer than a verbal explanation after the visit.

Distinguish cleaning, repairs and waterproofing

Request separate lists for cleaning, repairs and waterproofing. Cleaning does not establish that a leak was repaired, and lining application does not establish that no other repairs are needed. Record included areas, connections, openings and external work. If preparation reveals extra needs, clarify description and cost before changing scope.

Retain the product information

Request the product name, instructions and suitability for the intended use, especially drinking-water storage. 'Epoxy' or 'cementitious' alone is not evidence of suitability; the specific product and correct application matter. Keep the quotation and material names for future maintenance or another technical opinion.

Ask about return-to-service requirements

Do not reduce return-to-service decisions to a number of hours found online. Request instructions for the actual product and work and identify who verifies completion. Clarify responsibility for required cleaning, rinsing or testing and anything needing another appointment. Do not enter the tank to inspect; request safe documentation from the team.

Document handover and observations

Request photos or a handover record showing completed areas, observations and agreed actions. If testing is specified, record its method, result and limits with the technical contact. An unmarked surface is not proof of water quality; concerns require suitable testing rather than conclusions from appearance.

Agree on follow-up

Keep the installation date, contact route and any warranty terms, including exclusions for connection faults or later interference. If new signs appear, describe their location and timing and seek clarification before resuming use.

When contacting ARKAN Development, state the tank type, use, approximate size and condition. These details support assessment and scope definition. Execution and operating requirements are approved separately for each enquiry.
