Agree on the objective before comparing
State whether the aim is thermal improvement, water protection or a system combining functions. Ask both providers to explain each layer's role. Thermal material alone should not be assumed to replace waterproofing details or protection; the whole proposed system should appear in the scope.
Describe the roof and installation conditions
Prepare details of existing layers, equipment, openings, expected roof use and planned future work. Ask how each quotation handles these and whether preparation, removal or modification is needed. Comparing prices for one area can be misleading if the included work differs.
Request performance data you can review
Retain the product name, proposed thickness and technical data, and clarify the basis of performance comparisons. Do not combine figures from different product sheets without understanding test and application conditions. Review preparation, materials, protection, handover, maintenance and exclusions in one table. Identify who handles observations and how work is recorded, and request any warranty terms in writing. Turn unclear entries into questions before selecting the lowest figure.
